Celebrate summer without compromising your health!

Nothing says summer like a beach party and good ol’ barbecue smothered in sauce! And of course, there is the alcohol.

However, for liver cancer patients and survivors, there are some dietary restrictions. Even with the limitations, there are still ways to indulge in the celebrations without harming one’s health.

1) Fill up on the healthy foods first – starting a meal with fruits and veggies not only fill you up so you would eat less meats and sweets later, it also provides an abundance of antioxidants and vitamins.

2) Organic is the way – the liver is loaded with the responsibility of filtering toxins and liver cancer decreases this function. Eating organic foods decreases the stress of the liver to process artificial chemicals.

3) Pick your proteins – some proteins like grilled fish are much healthier than red meats such as pork and beef. For instance, salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids, which is a great source of nutrients.
