"I am the one drawing my own Blue Dots on my life now. I am the one guiding the rays of healing and restoration to my heart and then out to others."

Cancer does not define us. We are stronger than cancer. Katie Ritchey, founder of Deborah’s Palm, the Bay Area’s only nonprofit for women, is the epitome of this. She is an amazing Cancer Warrior with a wonderful heart and mind.

“Even though you would never say “cancer” and “blessing” in the same sentence, I’ve learned to do so…I’ve been a breast cancer survivor for over ten years now, and when I was diagnosed and going through treatment, it was a fight for my life. Not only physically, but every part of me had to decide to fight, and then I had to decide what I was fighting for.  I chose life, and determined that I needed at that point to doing some soul-cleaning… if I didn’t have long to live, what was I allowing in my life that was detrimental? It started a complete and total evaluation, to what was most vital to me. As a result, I knew that helping others and social justice were very important to me. I retrained as a counselor, bought an old Victorian, renovated both the house and my heart, and started the Deborah’s Palm.” — Katie Ritchey
